Pete Williams is an English singer-songwriter, bassist, and founding member of the influential new wave/soul group Dexys Midnight Runners. He joined the band at age 18 and served as the original bass player, performing on the group's acclaimed 1980 debut album, "Searching for the Young Soul Rebels", and played on their first UK number-one single, "Geno". He left the band in late 1980 following a demanding European tour. In 2003, he rejoined frontman Kevin Rowland for the band's comeback, taking a more prominent role as a co-vocalist, contributing vocals and bass to the critically acclaimed 2012 album One Day I'm Going to Soar. He toured heavily during this period, which included a celebrated 9-night residency at London's Duke of York's Theatre and headlining the Acoustic Stage at the Glastonbury Festival in 2014.
